Explaining here a brief summary of a lecture given by Swami Vivekanand on work & its secret.
One of the biggest lessons I've learned in my life is to pay as much attention to the means of work as to the end of it. Our big deficiency in life is that we are so drawn to the ideal, the goal is so much more enchanting, so much bigger in our mental horizon, that we completely lose sight of the details.
But when a failure occurs, if we critically analyze it, in 99% of cases because we didn't pay attention to the means.
Proper attention to finishing strengthening to the means we need. For all the right ways, the end has to come. We forget that it is the cause that creates the effect; the effect can not come on its own; so unless the causes are true, right, so strong, the effect will not be produced.
